rain or shine, windy path or straight road, i really kind of hope the mystery trip ends up being this weekend. i could go for a decent drive and the good company.

considering those i know that own their own dice, if everyone i know who games, from portland to seattle, showed up at my place at once to game, we'd be fine.

holy shit, yesterday was an astounding success.

before i get to details (which i'm sure will be posted in better form by more interesting people than i), i do want to thank everyone who came, everyone who helped, and my other honored competitors for making yesterday the non-stop show-boat of fun and win that it was. i'll be riding that high for awhile to come.

there was talk of declaring a winner, for this reason or that, but i think that, considering how goddamn amazing we all did, including those that cooked the multitude of amazing side dishes, the rib-off was a win for everyone who showed up. it was a win even for the nighbors, who got to run through our sprinklers.

yesterday rocked in so many ways, more than i can count. just...wow.

starting friday and continuing still, nothing but blinding pain. i had a brief reprieve on sunday, with only one really bad spell, but everything else has been absolutely fucking horrible. eating, speaking, and yawning have been especially fun.

i think i have a wisdom tooth coming in. or maybe not, i dunno; i know i'm a little old for it. all i do know is that my lower jaw feels like it's being split in two. i have a dentist's appointment for today at 4:30p, and i guess i'll find out then. here's hoping i can get through an entire day at a job where i spend all my time talking.

i learned quite a bit this weekend.

whether i like it or not indeed. i can't decide if i'm kind of strangely okay with this, or stressed out of my gourd. hrmph.
